Top Lures for Pike
There are two main criteria when choosing a pike lure to fish from a kayak. First of all, it needs to be able to attract big fish. And secondly you need to be able to fish it from a kayak. A fishing kayak is usually drifting in some sense and you to be able to stay in contact with your lure to fish it properly and to set the hook when the fish finally bites.
My favourite pike lures while fishing from a kayak are:
1. Swimbaits like Westin swim or Buster swim. These lures swim in an s-curve and fish good without you having to twitch or jerk them which is good while sitting down in a kayak that is moving.
2. Big Rubber baits like Westin bullteez or Eastfield viper. Big fish-like rubber baits always attract big pike. A kayak is a moving vessel and besides attracting big pike, a big rubber bait is easier for you to be in contact with from a moving kayak.
3. Big chatter baits with large trailers. When you put a big trailer on a big-bladed chatterbait you can really rip it through the grass and reeds where big pike are lurking. It is also a good option because you can always keep good contact when your kayak is moving.
